Iowa’s general fund budget is around $7.2 billion, an increase of more than $1.5 billion since 2010.  We do not need to raise taxes to spend more—we need to spend our dollars more wisely.

As your state senator, I will fight to lower taxes and spending.  I will also fight hard to cut out any waste, fraud, abuse, and duplication in state spending.

I support tax reform that will put more money in your pocket, help grow the economy, and make Iowa more competitive and attractive for businesses and families. This will help create good paying jobs and opportunities for all Iowans.

I also support an honest, transparent, and balanced budget process.  I support reforming our revenue estimating and budget processes to ensure we don’t overspend and don’t have to cut spending mid-year.

This has happened under Democrats and Republicans—and it needs to stop now.
